Episode 2 – Be Brilliant in the Basics
As a coach, we all know how important it is for our members to be awesome at the basics. Perfect the air squat before you snatch, push ups before ring dips, lighter barbell before a heavy one, yadda yadda. But as a coach, what are you doing to be brilliant in the basics of coaching? How confident are you in your abilities to re-teach your class something as simple as the air squat? Much like training, our skill as a coach is rarely stagnant – it’s either improving with constant reassessment and trying out new things, or we’re caught in a rut of doing the same thing over and over every class. Part of being a great coach is having the foundation of brilliance in the most fundamental coaching skills, so in the next class you teach, challenge yourself to be just as awesome with the easy stuff as you are with the complex stuff.
